How did I get into K-Pop?
I always considered myself in tune with American mainstream music and kept pretty up-to-date with it. Sadly, the quality of the music began to decline in the recent years due to too much auto-tune and a sudden influx of poorly talented artists (can't sing and/or perform correctly).
I always listened to artists like Utada Hikaru ever since I played the first Kingdom Hearts, and then I discovered my favorite artist BoA through Utada's Pandora. From BoA, I found DBSK through "Tri-Angle". And then, it just basically snowballed from there. After I went to the SMTown concert in LA in September 2010, I began to really embrace K-Pop instead of just passively listening to it. Easily one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
In October 2010, I decided to pass the time by creating artist compilations on YouTube. I mainly wanted to do it to help get BoA more exposed, because she's so great! It was because of her that I decided to do other artists such as SHINee and DBSK. And, now my account has taken off. I find it so rewarding that people all over the world really enjoy my work.
To continue my K-Pop love, I decided to begin writing for the start-up site Koreaboo in November 2010. I like to help the world become more up-to-date on the current K-Pop news. It's fun! And it also keeps me in tune with the music industry there as well.
