Her Story

6:08 PM

My name is Rachel and I am a K-pop Fangirl.

When Rain was mentioned for the first time on the Colbert Report in 2007, I had never heard of K-pop. By the time Rain and Stephen Colbert had a dance-off roughly a year later, I was totally caught by the K-pop phenomenon. It happened that quickly.

It's hard to put my finger on what exactly pulled me into the Korean pop culture vortex: goofy variety shows like X-man and Super Junior's Full House, dramas like Coffee Prince and Que Sera Sera, music videos like Big Bang's Lies. I know that YouTube played a big part. But it wasn't until Mirotic hit in September 2008 that I was completely sucked in. I became a hardcore Cassie.

Since there was no going back, figured I might as well throw myself into it wholeheartedly. I applied to become an author at DBSKnights in January 2009, when the TVXQ fan blog was still relatively small. Shortly later I became an admin, and I was proud to see DBSKnights rise to become one of the most popular TVXQ fan sites on the web.

My current K-pop culture interests include: TVXQ, Big Bang, K-dramas, and Running Man. My interests outside of K-pop include: Alfred Hitchcock, Doctor Who, The Beatles and all manner of pop culture geekiness.

Please feel free to drop me a line. Comments and questions are most welcome!
